Please pray for our son, Luke~

29 Aug

We’ve had some emails this last week from the US embassy in Ethiopia

They told us first that they have received all of Luke’s papers and will contact us soon.

The next day we got a generic email from the embassy saying that sometimes further investigation is needed to determine if the child is truly an orphan.

We weren’t worried about this, both of Luke’s parents are no longer living, our agency told us not to worry about it.

Early this morning we got an email saying that the US embassy is requiring an interview with Luke’s uncle before they can issue him clearance to come home.

His uncle lives a 2 day journey north.

Is the uncle living?

Does Uncle have a house?

A phone?

An address?

Jones family needs to provide Uncle with transportation and lodging to and from the US embassy in Addis (“jones family”~ha! Zinnia is really rubbing off on me, you should hear her say it..”good night all jones family i, zinnia go bed….!”  I totally have her accent DOWN!

So,  “in faith” I guess, our agency has made an appointment for Uncle to be at the Embassy ( I guess they only do monday and wednesday at 7:30 am)for the interview.

Uncle’s meeting is next Wednesday!

We could have immediate clearance to come get our son.

So, now we pray for our agency’s people in Ethiopia to find Uncle!  (he is the one who brought Luke to the orphan home 5 years ago).

And Chris will have him fly to Addis, to embassy.  Oh, and pay for a translator to accompany him

Lord, we trust your perfect timing in all things.  God we know you are sovereign.  Lord, we trust your will and way for our family, and for Luke.  We are eager to have this wait be over.  I know Luke is too.  God, please help them to find uncle.  We trust you and we also know that our enemy wants to bring anxiety, doubt and fear.  God this is not our home, we are only journeying through.  Forgive me, Lord, when I loose sight of your kingdom’s work.  In Jesus’ name I pray and praise you alone.

AHHHHH. Life slowed down! I had God’s perspective. This was MY SON! playing jenga with my boy.

the wait. did you know we “waited” almost 6 years for our youngest adopted? only telling you so you know someone out there has waited as well. it will all be a blurr when he is home and you are in the middle of “training” and laundry. i almost learned to “enjoy” the slower pace of life before it happened again. and now you can know i/we are waiting again. i think this is going to be a long one… waiting with you friend. praying for all involved.

Praying, Laura! That God will keep Luke safe in body and heart and soul until you can wrap your arms around him again. Love hearing things your girls say…so sweet!

You know I am no stranger to the painful process of waiting for a son to be officially called YOUR son. I am praying today for him, you, and “the Jones family” (so cute!) You have to get that on video so we can hear her! Oh Lord, finish your awesome work of knitting sweet Luke to the Jones’, this is work that you alone can do. Give peace and perspective as they wait for your finished work to be done.
